Betsy F. Crisafulli, MS, RDN, LDN (she/her) joined the GW Medical Faculty Associates in May 2023 as a nutritionist on the Bariatric Surgery team. Originally from North Carolina, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s in nutrition from University of North Carolina Greensboro, where she also completed her dietetic internship.
Betsy has extensive clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Since 2014, she has worked primarily with bariatric surgery patients, counseling on diet before and after surgery as well as post-operative vitamin and mineral supplementation and repletion, and facilitating patient support group meetings. Betsy loves getting to know her patients and supporting them in meeting their nutrition and health goals in ways that work for them.
As a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Betsy is active in the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group. She has spoken on bariatric surgery nutrition at continuing education programs for nurses and enjoys working with nutrition students and interns. She was recently part of a team who published on food insecurity, weight stigma, and bariatric surgery (2023).
